Frac sand is a high-purity quartz sand with very durable, round grains that meet strict specifications for size, strength, and sphericity. It is primarily composed of crystalline silica (SiO₂) and is processed to withstand the extreme pressure and chemical conditions of hydraulic fracturing (fracking). Its uniform grain size and high crush resistance make it the preferred proppant in oil and gas exploration.
